USMLE Step 2 Exam Pattern

• USMLE Step 2 CK is a one-day examination just like USMLE step 1 exam. The test duration is 9 hours, divided into 8 blocks of one hour each. Each of the blocks will have not more than 40 questions, and the total number of questions will be 350. The questions will be MCQ type.

Step 2 CK:

• USMLE Step 2 exam has emphasis on patient care under supervision. It is assessment of candidate’s knowledge of clinical science, to be applied in patient care and disease prevention.
• In Step 2 CS, the candidate have to interact with a standardised patient, diagnose and treat the patient. A standardised patient is a person who is trained to act like a real patient.

Step 2 CS:

• For Step 2 CS, candidate will have to listen to 12 patients, communicate with them, diagnose them and professionally treat them. The time duration with each patient will be 15 minutes each.
